#Identifying your truthful face is never easy,
amongst many  faces just returned from beauty parlours,
painted cut-out faces of Film actors,
laughing politicians and all,
need just a little while to identify you.

Oh, our Father of the nation.
Winston Churchill ridiculed you
the 'half naked fakir'.
He didn't ridicule you
but ridiculed Mother India.
That is why
our aggressive poet Bharathy
wrote the verses 'Vow of Panchali'
with patriotic fire filled in his pen.

You sacrificed your body
for the communalism,
prevailed in those olden days, 
the same communalism,
now seeks the very life,
of this secular nation,
as an offering for it,
even on this modern day today.

One who shot you dead,
made so only once,
but today’s offenders,
molest Mother India,
starting from the head to her bare feet.
